Digital Technology Instructor

Help Pre-K through 12th graders develop from technology consumers into technology creators! You'll be working either at our new Lincoln Park, Chicago learning center or our Wilmette learning center to lead groups of up to 8 students through our project-based technology curriculum. If you don't have coding or technology experience, that’s fine - we're looking for problem-solvers who want to keep learning. You'll be trained on a variety of platforms including: Scratch, Java, Lego robotics, Raspberry Pi and 123Design (3d printing).

All of our classes are after school and on weekends. Class load is split between multiple instructors.

Summary of essential job functions
  • Lead classroom of Pre-K - 12th graders through fun, interactive & engaging computer science focused lessons
  • Develop engaging lesson plans under the guidance of the Director of Curriculum & Instruction
  • Work closely with peer Digital Technology Instructors to continually refine curriculum and instructional approach
Requirements
  • Bachelors degree
  • Classroom management experience
  • Strong interest and/or willingness to develop expert proficiency in age appropriate technology platforms
  • Energetic personality, ability to hold the attention of groups
Nice to have
  • Programming or technology skills
  • Experience teaching programming or technology
  • Experience working with blended learning tools
  • Experience working with kids

Digital Technology Instructor-in-Training

Help Pre-K through 12th graders develop from technology consumers into technology creators! If you don't have coding or technology experience, that’s fine - we're looking for problem-solvers who want to keep learning. You'll be trained on a variety of platforms including: Scratch, Java, Lego robotics, Raspberry Pi and 123Design (3d printing).

Instructors-in-training will move on to becoming full instructors after a set period of guided training.

All of our classes are after school and on weekends. Class load is split between multiple instructors.

  • Lead individual or small groups of Pre-K - 12th graders through fun, interactive & engaging computer science focused lessons
  • Assist Digital Technology Instructors with large-group activities and classroom management
  • Work closely with Digital Technology Instructors and the Director of Curriculum to continually refine curriculum and instructional approach

Curriculum Designer

In partnership with our Digital Technology Instructors, you will leverage our fun, social & engaging learning studios to develop creative problem solving capabilities in Pre-K through 12th graders through the use of applied mathematics.

Summary of essential job functions
  • Inspire the next generation to develop creative solutions to the world’s biggest problems through the use of age appropriate computer science platforms: Scratch, Lego Mindstorms, Ruby, Java and C#.
  • Under the guidance of the Director of Curriculum & Instruction, develop thematic lesson plans which facilitate a love of technology-driven problem solving in our earliest learners
  • Work closely with peer curriculum designers to continually refine and improve curriculum and instructional content
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in education, computer science, or mathematics from leading institution
  • Recent experience developing computer science curriculum for Pre-K through 12th grade instructional environment
  • Strong interest and/or willingness to develop expert proficiency in age appropriate computer science platforms
