Steps

1. Delete the cat!

Find the blue trash can next to the cat, and click it to delete.

2. Pick a player sprite

Find the blue cat face in the bottom right corner of Scratch and click on it to open up the Sprite library.

3. Create a ground sprite

Put your mouse over the blue cat face, and move it up to the paint brush tool. Click on that to open the sprite editor.  Use the rectangle tool in here to draw the ground.

4. Rename your sprite

Find the sprite properties window. Rename your ground sprite to something like "Ground" to stay organized.

5. Set up your player's starting position

Click and drag your ground to the bottom of the screen, then click and drag your player on top of the ground.

6. Program the starting position

Add a yellow "when green flag clicked" to your player's code. This is found in the "Events" section.

Then, right below it, add a "go to x: _ y: _" from the "motion" section. Don't try to change the coordinates! They'll automatically match to wherever your sprite is right now.
