Project 579: Custom Skyboxes and Environments

6. Adjust the Skybox Ceiling

You may notice your Skybox is having the “upside-down” ceiling effect we talked about earlier! We’ll fix that here. If there are any other issues you want to fix with your Skybox now that you tested it out, we can do that now too.
This challenge doesn't have a starting point

Your goal

Steps

1. Make any adjustments in Pixlr you feel are necessary

Upon testing, is there anything you’d want to change? Moving the clouds, changing colors, moving the gradient? Go ahead and take the time to make those adjustments.

2. Re-import your new image as needed

If you did not make any new adjustments, just skip this step.

3. Create a new layer on top of everything to be your “ceiling”

Back in Pixlr, make another new Empty layer on top, to keep your art separate and neat. We’ll use this new blank layer to be our ceiling.

4. Use the color picker tool to select the top of your panel gradients

This is the eyedropper tool in your toolbar. Use the eyedropper to select the top color of your sky panel - in other words, the color that should be blending into the ceiling.

5. Use the paint bucket to fill the new ceiling layer

Making sure you’re still on your NEW layer, select the paint bucket tool, and fill the new layer with your light ceiling color.

6. Export as “Skybox_Top”

Go to File > Save. Save this file as something like, “Skybox_Top” to stay organized.

7. Import the Skybox_Top into Roblox Studio

Use Challenge 5 as a guide.

8. Replace the SkyboxUp texture

Use Challenge 5 as a guide. Make sure you only replace the Texture slot labelled “SkyboxUp” this time!
